Dear Northside
MAKING HIM KNOWN!
What does our 2024 theme mean to you? I would love to hear from you, let me know what you think God is saying to you. How is God asking you to Make Him Known?
One of the things we looked at as church leadership at the start of the year is to ask ourselves the question why. If you are struggling to Make Him Known – why? Why should we be excited about Making him Known? If we can understand why we should be making Him known, then it will come naturally. That’s why we are trying to memorise Psalm 145. There are many reasons why we should be making Him known, like the Psalmist. Why not look through Psalm 145 and write down all the reasons why we should be proclaiming His glory, commending His mighty acts to other generations, speaking of the glorious splendour of His majesty. Maybe one of the reasons why we do not do these things and why we do not meditate on His wonderful works, celebrate His abundant goodness and sing of His righteousness is because we do not know Him and what He has done for us.
Today we celebrate Mothers. Every person has a mother, and they are amazing. One thing Tiri likes to do is create acronyms. What acronym would you create for MOTHER? M is for the many things she does, O is for her open arms and love, T is for the tenderness she shows, H is for her heart that always knows, E is for her endless energy, R is for the radiant smile we see. To every mother here at Northside, we see you and we love you.
Next week we start a new preaching series. I think this is one of the things we are known for here at Northside. We will be working our way through the Book of Acts. Some say this is the Acts of the Apostles, others that is the Acts of the Holy Spirit. What we are going to do is look at 10 sermons given in the Book of Acts and see how the early believers Made Jesus Known. Both Pastor Vere and I are looking forward to this. As we do with all our sermon series, we are encouraging you to read through the book of Acts in preparation for the series. It is a history of the early church, and we think you will find it very interesting and we have a lot to learn from it. It is our prayer that this will help us “Make Him Known!” Next Sunday is also Pentecost Sunday…
We continue to pray for and support everyone who has started a new term at school or college or university this week.
The 25th May is Africa Day and so our décor theme on the 26th will be Africa. This wonderful, beautify continent and people. Get ready and come dressed for the occasion!
May mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance. God bless, Pastor Gary
