Imagine what we could do it we all played our part?

Dear Northside

We are nearly at the end of August. It does seem to me that this was a busy month, but maybe my 2-weeks away playing hockey contributed to that.

By all accounts, the Project127 camp was a success. We had close to 190 orphans at the camp. They used the Children with Hope materials, and they were well received. Great seeing ministries supporting each other.

The BUZ Annual Assembly was also a success. Thanks to our team who attended and represented us. Pastor Vere is a member of the National Executive, and he worked hard. He is making a real difference within the BUZ.

The Week of Transformation (WoT26) was also a success. 120 young people and 25 leaders made it quite a big event. Pastor Vere and I were part of the leadership team as well as 2 of the 5 main speakers. The theme was “Walking Worthy!”

And then we had the Bring It On concert. Again, a wonderful night seeing the youth use their gifts and talents to glorify God. Masimba and Taffy are making a real difference in the entertainment world in Zimbabwe.

This past week our playground was astroturfed. I encourage you to go check it out. It makes a huge difference, I think. This was made possible by a generous donation by one family. Imagine what we could do if we all played our part?

As I write this, we still have the Langham Preaching seminars this Saturday and the ACSI conference next week. Sarah and I are leading 2 workshops at this conference.

And then we get back to our “normal” routine as term starts. Isn’t God good? Thank You, God, for including us in Your plans and purposes. Thank You for making it possible – sometimes I have no idea where the resources will come from, but they always do. God is faithful.

Talking of resources, I received notification that we are still way behind in settling our accounts with Zimra and NSSA. Between the school and us, we owe them quite a lot of money. So please can I ask you to seek God’s face and help us settle these debts before we start accruing penalties.

We have a great 3rd term planned. I am looking forward to the new preaching series. We will hold baptism classes and membership classes this term. Start asking God if He wants you to commit yourself more to Him and to His church here at Northside. If you are new to Northside, we have our termly Newcomers Tea planned for 21 November. And then we get into our Advent/Christmas series. Are you excited? I am!

A few weekends ago I sat on the side of a hockey field watching other people playing. And I enjoyed it. But it was nothing like actually being on the field, playing the game. So may I encourage each and every one of you – get into the game, stop being a spectator. God has done so much for you. What are you going to do for Him in response?

God bless, Pastor Gary
