God’s church, making Jesus known for the glory of God (August ministry)

Dear Northside

August is always a busy month for us as a church. Already we have held our annual Harvest service, Bring it on auditions, workshops and rehearsals are already underway. Our Project127 team have been up to Ruwangwe, Nyanga North and returned after ministering to nearly 200 orphans. A small team represented us at the BUZ Annual Assembly this past week. Northside was a big part in the organising and running and being part of the Assembly.

Coming up we have the Week of Transformation starting tomorrow. We have around 120 young people between the ages of 15 and 15 years registered. In fact we are turning away young people. This is run by a team of about 20 people and both Pastor Vere and myself are part of the team. Many of our young people are involved in other leadership roles as well. Then we have our Bring it on evening on the 22nd. Please come and be part of this and support the amazing team lead by Masimba and Taffy. We will also host the 2nd seminar for Langham Preaching Zimbabwe here in Harare on the 29th. And after this we have the ACSI Christian Educators conference. I think we will relax when schools open on the 8th September.

I hope that all of this encourages you. We are doing a huge amount of ministry and making an impact in our community and nation for the glory of God. In many ways we are making Jesus known through our testimony. And if you are a part of the family here at Northside you are part of this as well. Please may I encourage you to get involved and support the ministries God places on your heart.

Just a short word on the BUZ. We are affiliated to the BUZ and as such our theology is Biblical. Pastor Vere and I receive our accreditation from the Union and Northside’s legal standing is through the Union. We do believe in the autonomy of the local church which means that we run our own affairs through our leadership and under the Lordship/headship of Jesus Christ. But the Union is there is we need assistance. It is wonderful being part of a grouping of likeminded churches, leaders and pastors. The Union is made up of around 40 churches and fellowships from all over Zimbabwe – urban, high density and rural, in all 10 Provinces. There are some amazing pastors and churches doing so much in our country for the glory of God. I always come away energised by my time with the Union. And it helps me see that we have so much and have so much to be thankful for here at Northside. I wish all of you were at the Assembly with us. Well done to Pastor Vere and Elder Makaya for being part of the organising team and for Amai Mavesere and Emelda Masawi for being wonderful delegates.

Please pray for WoT26 and Bring it on this month. May Jesus be made known and God be glorified.

God bless, Pastor Gary
