Dear Northside
Thanks to AI, you can find the answer to almost any question in about 3 seconds. So, if that’s true, then why are so many of the big decisions in your life still so hard?
Access to more information was supposed to make us wiser. But for a lot of us, AI has actually made us more shallow. We think we know a lot, but we really know a little about a lot.
Proverbs 3:7 says “Do not be wise in your own eyes. Fear the Lord and shun evil”. Solomon wrote that 3000 years before anyone could Google anything or use AI, but it fits this moment, because being wise in your own eyes now just takes a prompt and about two seconds. Technology can make you feel like an expert, but what it is really giving you is more knowledge, without any accompanying wisdom. You get some of the knowledge of God, but not the wisdom of God.
Real wisdom doesn’t just answer a question fast. It starts with fearing God, staying humble enough to admit that having information isn’t the same thing as knowing the right thing to do. It means testing the wisdom you have against Scripture, discussing it with wise Christian counsel, and testing it against reality. Henry Cloud says, “Fools see the truth and try to change the truth. The wise see the truth and decide that they’re the ones who need to change.”
So today, ask God one honest question. And then wait for the answer. You know it might take a while, but just because God isn’t fast doesn’t mean He’s not faithful.
All real wisdom comes from God. It always has and it always will.
It has been a busy week here at Northside. School has started; we prayed for all our Grade 7s today as they start their ZimSec exams on Monday. We hosted the Call to Worship breakfast on Thursday. Biggest attendance ever. The theme was “Blessed to be a Blessing.” Northside, we are blessed and it is wonderful to be a blessing to the building of unity in God’s Church. Meetings with the leaders of our 4-worship through music and song groups – are you appreciative of their ministry? Have you thanked them and encouraged them? They are on duty every 5 weeks and it is hard work. And with the Digital Online Prescence team – have you looked at our church webpage recently? And with senior staff. Looking at all the ministry that’s happened and is coming. All that needs to be done in and around the church facilities. Staff and finance issues. We hosted the EFZ Finance & Audit committee. I think we are not a church that only operates on Sundays. And I think we are making a significant contribution to our community and nation. Thank you for being a part of the Northside family with us on this journey.
We are excited to see what happens and who attends tomorrow’s Business Mentorship Program. We need both mentees and mentors to attend. Don’t just come to get, come to see how you can give.
God bless, Pastor Gary
