Who is this Jesus?

Dear Northside

Today we finish our preaching series through the Book of Philippians Finding Joy as Disciples of Jesus. How has this preaching series impacted your life? Have you been able to find joy?

We also have our Annual General Meeting where we look back over the past year (2025). May we continue to:

  • Celebrate God’s Faithfulness,
  • Make Jesus Known
  • Walk in the Spirit, being activated for Growth.

As we look back and see God at work in and through us, may we look forward with hope and may we be followers of Jesus, obeying His commands.

I have been challenged this past week that every believer is responsible to fulfil the Great Commission. Do you believe that? What are you doing to fulfil the Great Commission? Are you being discipled here at Northside. If not, talk to one of our elders. If you are being discipled, are you being obedient to the commands of Jesus? And, as you go about your life, are you making disciples. Disciples who are also being obedient to make obedient disciples?

It is also Palm Sunday today! It is the start of Passion Week, Jesus’ last week. Some of us have been preparing for this week using the 40 days of Lent. As we look at Palm Sunday and the week ahead, The Passover Meal, Good Friday and Easter Sunday, let us ask ourselves this question, “Who Is This Jesus?”

Who is this Jesus who came riding humbly into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey? Who is this Jesus who walks through the unmet expectations people had of Him during His earthly ministry and how those expectations led to discouragement, disappointment, and ultimately to the cross. The crowd longed for political change from the promised Messiah but instead encountered a humble and loving Saviour who came to bring salvation and defeat sin and death.

Jesus is:

  • humble
  • a loving Savior
  • victorious
  • the Son of God
  • the King of Kings
  • the Lord of Lords

Do you know this Jesus?

What expectations do you have concerning Jesus, especially expectations He has not met in your life? Do you see your need for salvation, your sin? Do you see Jesus as the Way, the Truth and the Life? The only way to truth and life, the only way to the Father, the only way to salvation?

Join us this week as we walk through the Passover Meal (you need to book and pay to secure your seat – places are limited). Join us for our Good Friday service and Easter Sunday service. Both are family services. The Doulos men are serving tea and hot cross buns after the service on Friday.

Join us as we study Jesus this week! And bring family and friends with you!

God bless, Pastor Gary
