Dear Northside
Welcome to yet another Prayer Bulletin. They do sure come around quickly these days. Which means we have our monthly Prayer Breakfast this Sunday as well.
Prayer is such an important part of the life of any and every church. Northside is no exception. The Bible tells us that if we labour without God’s guidance and involvement we labour in vain. I do not know about you, but I want to do something that’s worthwhile and eternal. Therefore, we need to be praying for every aspect, every person who attends Northside, every ministry and mission/missionary that makes Northside the church it is. And we do not want to stay the way we are, we want to grow wider and deeper and become more like the church God’s created us to be. Please join us in praying for God’s church here at Northside! We have been identifying members of all our ministry leadership teams who will be responsible for Prayer. I am excited about this as it will develop a team of prayers and ensure our ministries and the people serving and being ministered to are being prayed for as well. And there is power when we gather together to pray – so why not come early this Sunday and the 4th Sunday of every month going forward and join us for prayer and a light breakfast before we join the rest of the congregation for the morning service.
This week I was thinking about what to write about in this blog. There were a number of things that I thought about. All really good things. But as I reflected on them, I noticed a theme emerging. None of these things were possible unless we were Walking in the Spirit. Being bold. Witnessing. Having peace. Dealing with death. Families. Husbands. Being used by God. Imitating what is good. I could go on…
So, as we continue to look at our theme for 2025 – #WalkingintheSpirit! What does that mean to you? Does it excite you or cause you to worry? Why? How about spending some time with God asking Him what it means? Maybe do a search in your Bible for all the times it talks about walking in the Spirit. And then ask God what he wants you to do so you are walking with Him each and every day. If you would like to talk to someone about this, please contact Pastor Vere or myself through the church office.
I am excited about the baptism service this Sunday. It is always encouraging to witness disciples of Jesus following Him obediently through the waters of Baptism. We know that heaven is invested in this and will be watching. And we know that this is pleasing to the triune God. Please pray for the 4 people being baptised. Pray for protection this week because we know that Satan and the forces of darkness are not happy and will all they can to stop this. But we know that He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world – Amen!
God bless, Pastor Gary
