Dear Northside
So far in the last few articles I have looked at Real Freedom, Tithing and why it is important that we attend church services on a regular basis.
As elders, we feel that this message of freedom in Christ Jesus is really important for us as a church. You have been set free from the Law when you walk in step with the Spirit. But use your freedom wisely. How are you responding to the fact God has set you free in Jesus?
As we continue to look at the finances of the church, we are still in a crisis. Please help us, if you can. All we are asking is that you remain faithful in your giving to God’s church.
In the last few weeks, the attendance (total) at our services has done this – 301, 293, 355, 280. Attendance in our Sunday school has been – 61, 48, 64, 50. Parents, please bring your children every Sunday so we can help you teach them the ways of God. And one of the things we long to teach the next generation is faithful church attendance.
What an amazing sermon last Sunday from God through Pastor John Bell. Even if you were here, I would encourage you to watch or listen to it again. It was a rich feast. What is your attitude to those little sins in your life? You have been called to freedom, treat it carefully. Do not give the ‘flesh’ an opportunity to gain a foothold in your life. Serve one another humbly in love. You have a battle within you, fight it seriously. You have 2 dogs who are always fighting. Which one will win? The one you feed. Walk in the Spirit! What choices do we make – ones that feed the flesh or the way the Spirit wants me to. You have a victory before you, pursue it vigorously. Keep in step with the Spirit.
How do we deal with the flesh? Crucify it, put it to death! Is this our attitude to the little sins in our life? But we do this because God has set us free through Jesus.
We would love to hear testimonies of how God is speaking to you through His Word. How is God using Northside to transform your life? How are we equipping you to be God’s agent of renewal in the world?
This Sunday we have our Ordinary General Meeting. We will be looking back and looking forward. We have much to be thankful to God for. We are halfway through the year. Come and hear what God is doing in and through His Church here at Northside.
Please can I encourage you to start planning for what you will bring to the Harvest Service on 3rd August. If you are like us (the Cross family), it is hard to be generous and to give cheerfully unless you make a plan in advance. So start planning and putting your harvest tithe together now.
God bless, Pastor Gary
