Sanctuary Service

MISSION STATEMENT

The Sunday Service is a time for the body of Christ to gather at Northside Community Church, and several ministries are crucial in creating a space for worship. We want each attendee to encounter God and worship Him freely and fully.

ACTIVITIES

Our Sunday service runs from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, and there are many meaningful ways to serve and enrich our time together. Whether you’re called to create beauty through the Flower Ministry, support worship through sound and projection, or share your testimony to inspire others, there’s a place for you!

Each month, we take time to celebrate birthdays, creating a warm and joyful space where every member is valued. We also gather once a month to take communion together, a sacred time of remembrance of the sacrifice that Jesus made for the body of Christ. After the service, stay for tea and fellowship, where you can connect, encourage one another, and build deeper relationships within our community.

There’s something special about serving, sharing, celebrating, and worshipping together—come be a part of it!

Colossians 3 verse 12-17

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Pastors Comment

The Sunday service is the heart or engine of the church. It is very important in the life and ministry of the church. But very often it is only the people we see up front who get recognised. Like an engine, there are many parts needed for the car to move – the Sunday service is the same. In the background, before, during and after every service is a small army of dedicated Northsiders who use their gifts and talents to serve.

Our welcome team are the first contact people have with the church. Thank God for people with the gift of hospitality, who greet everyone, new and regular, every week. We have a few teams, so they are not serving every week. We have 4 music teams that rotate each week. One ministry with 4 expressions. This gives us a variety of styles with a sense of unity. At the back of the sanctuary, we have the sound team. They work hard each week to give us a well-balanced sound. We also have the team that runs the screens. This team is only recognised when there is a problem, as it is very visible. A lot of work goes into preparing the various slides each week. We also have the online team who make sure the service is live-streamed each week. After the service, we have the teams who prepare and serve tea, coffee and cold drinks. We also have a team who are in the library waiting to serve you if you are looking for a book to read. We have over 3,000 books. Once a month, our Communion team serve the congregation. They prepare the elements before the service, set up the serving stations and then wash up afterwards. When we have special services, our décor team steps in and transforms the sanctuary, helping us to celebrate the occasion.

This is a great way to get involved in ministry as you are not on duty every week, and you are coming to church already. The A of our ABC as a church is to be Actively involved in our Sunday services. We are not called to be spectators but participants. It has also been our experience that being involved in some way makes the Sunday service even more meaningful. So, what’s stopping you? Get involved today. Contact the church office, and we can put you in touch with our amazing ministry leaders.

How to get Involved

If you would like to serve on a Sunday, we would love to connect with you. Whether you want to pour tea, welcome newcomers or provide sound support or flowers for the service, you are invited to join us. To learn more or express interest in getting involved, please reach out to the church office or Emelda, the deacon overseeing Prayer & Worship at Northside. Create a space of hospitality that allows congregants to focus on worshipping their God for who He is and what He has done.
