Dear Northside
Around the church
As we come to the end of May 2026, we conclude the Genius of One training. It is our prayer that everyone at Northside will participate in this powerful five-week series. New small groups will soon begin, so please watch for announcements and sign up. In Jesus’ final prayer, He asked that His church would be one. Our unity remains our most powerful witness, and this course will help us grow in that oneness.
Next Sunday, we begin our annual SHAPE Course. God created and saved each of us for a purpose—to become active, fruitful, joyful members of the Body of Christ. This four-week course, running on Sundays in June from 11:00 to 12:30, will help you discover your unique role in God’s church. Please register with the church office to attend.
The ground staff have been hard at work painting and cleaning the veranda, window frames, pillars and shutters by the kitchen. It is looking so much better.
From Fearful to Fearless
Many of us struggle with the fear of others. This may involve fear of harm, but more often it shows up as fear of rejection—worrying about what people think of our personality, appearance, opinions, or work. We may hesitate to speak up for what is right, fearing loss of reputation, comfort, or opportunity. Sometimes we feel misunderstood, or overextend ourselves trying to please everyone, saying “yes” out of fear of disappointing others.
Living for human approval leads to anxiety, exhaustion, distraction, and disappointment. Scripture reminds us: “Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe” (Proverbs 29:25). Fear and trust cannot coexist—fear undermines faith.
Pleasing God matters far more than pleasing people. Our acceptance by Him is not something we earn; it has already been secured through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Because of Him, we are accepted and made worthy. Through the Holy Spirit, we are continually transformed to become more like Him.
Human approval can never provide lasting security, but God’s acceptance is unconditional and life-changing. As we receive His love, it reshapes how we think and live. The more we understand His love, the less we are controlled by fear of others. In trusting God, we find true peace and eternal security in Him.
Take time to examine your heart. Are your thoughts, words, and actions shaped by fear of people, or by trust in God? Begin with small steps to trust Him more fully, and allow His love to guide your life.
God bless, Pastor Gary
