Father’s Day

Dear Northside

Last Sunday we celebrated Pentecost Sunday. The day God poured out His Spirit onto all His children. The day the church was born. In the service, I mentioned 5 unmistakable signs that you have received the Holy Spirit. I thought I would repeat them here for you:

  1. God is no longer intangible. You begin to sense His presence and experience His reality in everyday life.
  2. Sin is no longer comfortable. What once felt normal now stirs conviction, leading you to quick repentance and renewal.
  3. Transformation is no longer theoretical. Change becomes visible as your heart, habits, and priorities align with Christ.
  4. People are no longer unlovable. The Spirit enables you to see others through God’s eyes and extend grace, even to the hardest hearts.
  5. God’s kingdom mission is no longer optional. You feel compelled to live with purpose, sharing the Gospel and serving others for His glory.

Maybe you have read that list and are struggling to see these signs in your life. If this is you, please make a plan to come see one of the Pastors.

This Sunday we are celebrating Father’s Day! God is called Our Father in the Lord’s Prayer. We are all adopted into God’s family, we are His children, and He is our Father. What a wonderful thought! Maybe you have had a bad experience with your father, or your father is no longer around. God wants to be your Father, and He is the perfect Father.

And we thank God for all our fathers here as well. Our biological fathers, step-fathers, adopted fathers and spiritual fathers. We celebrated Mother’s Day a month ago as mothers are important. But so too are fathers. God set up families and they all need a father and a mother.

As men, let us all set our hearts on being Godly fathers:

  • Faith – men of Faith. Praying for our families.
  • Adversity – showing our families how to face adversity in a Godly way.
  • Teacher – teaching our families the ways of God.
  • Helper – helping our wives and children.
  • Encourager – encouraging those around us.
  • Reputation – have a Godly character and a good reputation like Daniel.

The world needs more Godly fathers!

Thank you to everyone who helped with all the events and ministries last weekend. It was a busy weekend. I do believe that God was glorified, we loved and served our community, we made God known as we celebrated Pentecost Sunday, we proclaimed the Gospel and made disciples or followers of Jesus.

God bless, Pastor Gary
