Who here can relate to being weary and burdened? Are you feeling overwhelmed by life or uncertain or scared about the future?
In Matthew 11:28, Jesus says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.“
Finding Rest in Movement: In our busy lives, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and exhausted. Jesus invites us to come to Him with our burdens and find rest. Today as we gather for our worship service, let’s remember that this is a form of rest for our souls. When we come to Jesus, as we have come to worship Him, we release stress and tension, making space for God’s peace to fill us.
Strength in Surrender: As we come to worship Him, it’s also about learning to surrender. As we live our lives and push ourselves as far as we can to survive, we discover our need for rest and renewal. Jesus calls us to come to Him and find rest. In our moments of weakness, we can lean on His strength. As we worship Him today, let’s focus on surrendering our struggles to Him and trusting in His power.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for the invitation to find rest in you. As we come to worship You today, help us to release our worries and burdens. Fill us with your peace and strength. May our worship be a reminder of your constant presence and care. Heavenly Father, remind us that true strength comes from surrendering to you. Help us to trust in your power and find rest in your presence. Renew our bodies, minds, and spirits. Amen.
A few notices:
Well done to the décor team for last week’s décor in the sanctuary. And well done to everyone who came dressed in their African finest. We looked good! The décor team are always looking for help physically but also with resources.
You will notice that the bottom gate is no longer in use as we are extending the fence from the wall. A new gate will be installed further up towards the sanctuary, which we hope will improve our traffic flow.
In two weeks’ time, it is Father’s Day. So, get ready. Invite your father to come with you to church.
We have 2 CAPEX needs that we would like to get done. We would love to put the church and school logos on the church minibus. Wouldn’t it be great to see the minibus driving around our community and city promoting the church and school? We are also looking to expand the sound cage at the back of the sanctuary so that we can have space for the multimedia/streaming team. This would remove them from being in the middle of the seats, freeing up seats and making the sanctuary look a bit neater. We also have a financial need. To date, we have a deficit for the year of around USD 4’000, and we currently have outstanding payments of around USD 16’000. If you are able to help, please contact Shephard Chizwina or Valentine Mushayakara.
