Today is Mother’s Day! And so we celebrate all our mothers. There really would be no people in the world without mothers. Here are 4 proverbs about mothers from around the world…
- A mother’s role is to deliver children obstetrically once, and by car forever after. – American Proverb
- God could not be everywhere and therefore he made mothers. – A Jewish Proverb
- There is only one pretty child in the world, and every mother has it. – Chinese Proverb
- A man loves his sweetheart the most, his wife the best, but his mother the longest. – Irish Proverb
Thank you to all our mothers for all that you are and do. But Moms also entertain us and make us laugh at times!
While assembling furniture, Liz asked her friend’s six-year-old son, Ricky, to bring her a screwdriver. ‘Do you want a ‘Daddy’ screwdriver or a ‘Mummy’ screwdriver?’ Ricky politely inquired. Confused by the question, Liz responded with, ‘Bring me a ‘Mummy’ screwdriver.’ Ricky returned and handed her a butter knife.
What does your Mom mean to you? I hope you will do something today to let them know you are thinking of them and that you love them.
Talking of mothers reminds me about all the children, youth, students and young adults. All our youth programmes start this coming weekend. Reading, Wow kids and Icthys start on Friday, Sunday school, Bible Class and Young Adults start on Sunday. I am sure that there is an exciting term ahead of all our children, youth, students and young adults. If you are single and less than 30 years of age talk to Pastor Verengerai and find out where you can get involved. If you love young people and would like to help in our youth ministries please speak to Pastor Verengerai and see how you can help.
Living in Zim at the moment is tough. No one is exempt from the stress and pressures that we face each and every day. Many of us are tired. Why not contact the church office and ask to see one of the Pastors? Wewould love to meet with you, talk with you and pray with you. You do not need to walk your journey alone!
One of the things I am preparing for this week is our Vision Retreat Day for all our leaders. I invited 55 people to this day. Wow, isn’t that amazing and encouraging? To have so many people involved in leadership here at Northside. Our revised vision and mission statements are:
- Vision – To be God’s heart, reflecting His love in our community
- Mission – To live our lives to glorify God!
We have so many ministries here at Northside that reflect God’s love and glorify God in our community. Are you involved in any of them? If you consider yourself to be part of the Northside family, then you should be. If you do not know where to get involved or how to get involved please consider attending the SHAPE Course this term from 30 June to 21 July. You won’t regret it!
God bless, Pastor Gary
